OUR STORY
Our story began at the Science Museum of Western Virginia during COVID when we both worked at building educational support services for families struggling to navigate a challenging time. After years of professional collaboration and building a strong friendship, we started a relationship and, eventually, a business. With two teenagers at home, we found ourselves with the time and energy to create something that filled a gap in Roanoke’s local services. In 2025, we launched Crumb Crushers, driven by a common need we saw across families in Virginia: more time and affordable support.
Who we are
Danielle Murray (she/her/hers), Co-Founder:
Danielle has dedicated her life to supporting families, and those who know her would repeat the same sentiment. Her background as a Pre-K teacher for almost 20-years means she doesn't shy away from the dirt and grime kids create from what feels like thin-air. More recently, Danielle has used her degree in Early Childhood Education to develop successful educational programs at the Science Museum of Western Virginia and Center in the Square, and she now works at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at Virginia Tech supporting families who participate in the nationwide HBCD study, researching baby brain development.
Koren Smith (she/her/hers), Co-Founder:
Koren was born in England and relocated to Roanoke, VA in 2018. After falling in love with the mountains and the small-town feel of the city, she made it her home and began working at the Science Museum of Western Virginia in marketing. Finding opportunities for families to create meaningful memories reinforced a desire to help parents thrive in an increasingly busy world. Currently, Koren works as a Project Manager and supports families in the HBCD Study at Virginia Tech.

We offer anytime pick-up between Monday and Thursday, 9am-3pm, and flexible return (within 3 business days) or next-day return (Mon-Fri).
